Ms. Marcouiller is an attorney in private practice dedicated exclusively to representing clients throughout the world in questions of U.S. immigration and nationality law. She began working for the Midwest Immigrant Rights Center in Chicago, and then was an associate an the immigration law firm of Kenneth Y. Geman and Assocciates in Chicago until returning home to Seattle. She has been practicing exclusively immigration and nationality law for over ten years. Ms. Marcouiller is fluent in Spanish. She earned her B.A from Saint Mary's College at Notre Dame, M.A. from the Institute of Latin American Studies of the University of Texas at Austin, and J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago.

She is licensed to practice law before the United States Supreme Court, the Federal Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, Federal District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the Federal District Court for the Western District of Washington, as well as in the Supreme Court of Illinois and Washington.

Ms. Marcouiller is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), a national organization and the American Bar Association-recognized immigration bar. She has held a number of positions on behalf of the Washington State chapter of that organization including: chapter officer, Chair of Congressional Liaison Committee, Co-Liaison to U.S. Consulate in Vancouver, B.C., member of Immigration Court Liaison Committee. Currently, Ms. Marcouiller is Co-chair of the AILA liaison committee to the Department of Homeland Security and a member of the Congressional Liaison committee and the Consumer Protection/Unauthorized Practice of Law committee.

Ms. Marcouiller has been a speaker at professional seminars including: AILA's Northwest Regional Seminar in Seattle, 1998, on "Methods of Obtaining Permanent Residence;" in Portland, 1999, on "Ethics Issues in Family Based Immigration Cases," and the King County Bar Association continuing legal education seminar in Seattle, 1999, on "Representing Cancellation of Removal Cases." She is currently invited to participate on a panel discussing "Managing Complex Family Cases" at the Northwest Regional CLE in Seattle, Washington on February of 2004.

Ms. Marcouiller is Co-Editor of "Ethics and Your Immigration Practice," published by AILA in 1998.

Ms. Marcouiller is a frequent guest on Spanish language radio programs discussing immigration issues and responding to questions from the public.

She donates her time to the Immigration Law Clinic of the King County Bar Association, the Immigration Clinic of Seattle University School of Law, as a speaker at forums for the Spanish-speaking community on immigration issues, and served on the first advisory board to the Immigrant Families Advocacy Project (IFAP).

Ms. Marcouiller has been recognized for her achievement by the Washington State Chapter of AILA for "service to our organization, our profession and our community" in 2000 and by The Neighborhood Legal Clinics of the King County Bar Association and by the Young Lawyers Division Public Service Committee of the Washington State Bar Association for volunteer work at the immigration clinics.
